Jerry West Will Lead LA golf Event
Jerry West, a pro basketball player, will join PGA Tour after his retirement to participate not as a contender. Even if West, popularly dubbed as “Mr. Clutch,” once played a 63 at the Bel-Air Country Club, West is not coming up with the latest PGA Tour logo.
He spent his whole Hall of Fame vocation with LA Lakers, and was employed May 28, 2009 as executive director of Northern Trust Open at the Riviera. His occupation was to assist the increase of profile and generous donations of the tournaments in LA.
This is his preference to assist in increase the interest level and charity for LA tournament. Los Angeles has given him with incomparable support and the only thing he is able to contribute is being a player for the Lakers and executive to the LA golf Tournament. This is his opportunity to give back to the society that has shown him enough support.
The LA Tournament is conducted at Riviera, among the America’s accounted golf courses. It lures among the strongest fields of the regular PGA Tours with Phil Mickelson who is a 2 time defending champion. Although it has delayed far behind with other PGA tours in raising funds for local charities and West wishes to alter all this.
He would not be present every day, however, he would be acquiring support in the nation’s 2nd largest market to acquire the rambling city to be more engaged in PGA Tours ever since 1926.
One of his goals is building up the LA Legends Club, which is a society of commerce and civic directors who will extend the reports regarding the tournament as well as what it can share for the main charity which is LA Junior Chamber of Commerce Charity Foundation. His contribution is part of the general Northern Trust Open. The tour will administer the event from Mike Bone, general manager.
