Maryland Basketball to lose Jordan William
Jordan Williams, the star forward player of Maryland Basketball, is all set to drop out of college to take a shot at acquiring a place in the NBA. Being a part of the big league is every player’s dream and Jordan feels that the time is right to make an attempt. Jordan is a sophomore at the Maryland Terrapins. However, Williams is keeping his options open. He is not going full throttle or “hiring an agent”, to get him in the NBA circuit. He may decide to stay back in college, but he is expected to make a quick decision since May 8, 2011, is the deadline for him to decide on his career in basketball.
Jordan says he wants to “test the waters”
Jordan Williams has been quoted as saying that he is eager to see how things will turn out for him in the NBA. He says that his short-term ambition in basketball was to secure a place in the next level and improve his skills. On his game, he says he knows his game needs improvement and that the coaches and scouts at the NBA will help him perfect his skill. He admits that their feedback will be precious to him and will help him become a successful basketball player.
Coach Gary Williams to retire
Even amidst uncertainty over Jordan Williams, the head basketball coach of the University has announced retirement although he shall remain on the advisory body and as an assistant athletic director. The news was received with shock in the university. Speculators are already spinning webs connecting the two important happenings in the team, that of Jordan remaining in the draft and the head coach Gary Williams retiring. Jordan’s leaving the team is being speculated as the reason for this sudden retirement. In whichever case, the team will take a big blow. The coach has played an important role in molding the young team. The success that the team has achieved is hugely due to the unrelenting hard work of Gary Williams. The team and the university will sure miss Gary Williams in action.

The Los Angeles Lakers’ reign as two-time defending NBA champions came to a screeching halt on Sunday in Dallas, as the Lakers were rolled by 36 points in Game 4 of their second-round series with the Mavericks, completing an embarrassing sweep with a couple of cheap fouls by Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum. The pair got ejected in Phil Jackson’s last game (for now) and the Lakers know they’re going into this reloading process without their future Hall of Fame coach. So where do they go from here?
The biggest rumor is that the Lakers will look to ship Bynum and Odom to Orlando for Dwight Howard, but now the question becomes, is that all it will take? Experts who follow NBA betting odds found at BetUs know that the Magic watched Cleveland and Toronto crush their fanbases and hopes of a winning season by getting nothing for LeBron James and Chris Bosh (who both went to Miami to form the Heat’s version of the Big Three with Dwyane Wade), respectively. Then they watched the Denver get a huge return from New York for Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups, to the tune of Wilson Chandler, Danilo Gallinari, Ray Felton, Timofey Mozgof, draft picks and money. Howard hasn’t made any public statements, but the sentiment is that he’ll leave Orlando as a free agent in the summer of 2012, and it could rival last year’s sweepstakes with James’ “Decision”, along with Bosh and a few others. The Lakers are one of the few teams who could afford Howard, and Kobe Bryant can’t carry a team like he used to, but alongside a physical powerhouse such as Howard, the five-time champion could make a run to pick up No.6.
Lakers fans shouldn’t panic, although Sunday’s exhibition was a disgrace. But when you get a chance to play for a franchise like the Lakers, you take it, and you can expect the Lakers will go after Howard. It makes more sense to go after Howard than Chris Paul, but that’s a discussion for another day. Either way, the Lakers will be back, and sooner than you expect.
